Final printmaking workshop

On Saturday May 14 we all met again at the fantastic art space above BRAG with tutor Catherine McCue-Boes for a final day of collagraph printmakers.

We had adjusted plates, made new plates, and had an amazing day of learning techniques and pitfalls including some hilarious moments with gold leaf, some delightfully gentle moments with Craytex colouring (as applied by Rhonda, right), and with a lot less black-inked newsprint around the studio!! (you had to be there last time to believe it).

Above, tutor and Lloyd enjoy the reveal. This workshop was a final in a series of 3 co-funded by RADF and thank you to BRAG for the generous use of the press and the space.

The BRAG press is booked for June 1 for any Mt P members or Bundy printmakers who want to come and print their plates. I think we've got some printmakers amongst you...

For the love of art – 100th exhibition in Mt Perry

The latest exhibition opened at the Pat Augustine Cultural Centre on 7 May and continues until June 12.

In 1999 the Mt Perry Hospital building was relocated to this site and renovated to become the Pat Augustine Cultural Centre. In October that year the first exhibition was held in its Art Gallery.

This 100th exhibition is a collection of artworks showcasing the diverse talents and adventurous spirits of our members and volunteers. After almost 20 years the Mt Perry Fine Arts Group continues as a vibrant part of the community, holding at least 5 art workshops throughout the year, hosting the regionally recognised Annual Art Exhibition each September, and managing the operation of the Gallery.

We work in all mediums and styles of art and craft, and our supportive approach encourages all members to jump into the unknown and try new art practices. And we all do so – for the love of art!

Right, President Shelley enjoys a moment with past perry Shire Mayor, Gordon Porter, and Councillor Peter Baker who opened the exhibition. Thanks Peter.
