Inspired by Pastel by Sue Robinson is the current Exhibition in the Mt Perry Arts Gallery

Saturday the 18th July we braved the winter chill to enjoy Sue Robinsons opening of her Pastel Exhibition. Don't miss out on seeing her Fantastic Art Works in the Gallery until 15th August
Inspired by Pastel
Sue Robinson- Art has been a major form of expression throughout my life since a very early age and one I was encouraged to use as by ten years of age I was drawing most of the school display boards and maps for the teachers. This led to the offer of a full scholarship for high school which my family could not see the benefit as it would require me to go to a different boarding school to my sister. Thus my choice to begin studying art once I had my three boys.
Pastel has become my primary medium. This dry medium is easy to travel with and does not require water or solvents unless by choice to blend or fix a quick base colour. Pastel is a very tactile medium which I love to blend and you have the added benefit of using coloured papers which can set the mood for your work to begin.
For many years I have been teaching art as a private tutor in the schools in the Gin Gin area and when the Mount Perry group formed more than twenty years ago I was the first weekly tutor for the group. During this time I worked nights a Mobil Roadhouse, tutored and attended art group lessons at Woodrow Studio in Bundaberg.
Work and family business took me to the outback in 1995. In Camooweal I became the Post Mistress, QGAP agent and council clerk, and my favourite was to become very involved in the arts once again. I traveled as the Mount Isa representative to many conferences, sat on the RADF board in Mount Isa and was the arts coordinator for the Camooweal Drovers Camp.
Now I spend time at STUDIO 398 on Mount Perry Road which is a venue I built recently to continue my art and tutoring

Paper Painting Collage Workshop

Paper Painting works in collage workshop held on Sunday 31st May 2015 with Tutor Sue Daw. Funded by RADF this workshop was very interesting, with the art works being created using hand painted papers. Students were taught a unique figurative college style, exploring hand painting their own papers with a variety of techniques and colours, then using them to create
